Last week saw the European Parliament back a package of measures to combat global warming. The plan, agreed by EU leaders , sets out how the 27 member states will cut carbon emissions by 20% by 2020, compared with 1990 levels.
As part of the plan it will also commit member states to a 20% increase in use of renewable energy by 2020 and a 20% cut in energy consumption through improved energy efficiency by 2020.
While it’s a great step in the right direction I am not sure how these ambitious plans will be taken on board once each member state starts to look at how best to achieve their individual goals or should we say wickets?
